Why should I track my website's position?

Website position tracking is an important part of any successful online business or marketing campaign. It offers numerous benefits, which can help you improve your strategies, gain more traffic, and increase your revenue. Here are a few reasons why you should track your website's position:

  • Track your progress: By keeping an eye on your website's rank, you could see if your marketing efforts are paying off and help you closer towards your goals.
  • Spot chances and problems: To succeed in the world of SEO, focus on crafting content that answers user queries instead of merely using more keywords. Navigate the challenge of competitors ranking higher for certain keywords by enhancing your SEO strategy and developing relevant, top-quality content.
  • Keep an eye on competition: You could also see how you’re doing compared to your competitors, which could help you come up with better plans.
  • Make your website better: If your site is one of the first few results on Google, more people are likely to click on it and enjoy using it. Conversely, if it’s hard to find, people may not use it at all.
  • Attract more visitors and earn more: The higher your website ranks, the more people visit it, which could lead to more people buying your products or services.

In short, knowing your website's rank helps you make better plans to increase your website's visibility.

How to find which keywords should I track?

Finding the right keywords to track is a crucial step in your SEO journey. With Seodity's Organic Traffic feature, this task becomes easier. This tool provides you with a list of keywords that are currently driving organic traffic to your website. These are the keywords that your website is already ranking for on Google. By tracking these keywords, you can understand what your audience is searching for and what content is resonating with them. You can then use this information to refine your SEO strategies and create more targeted content.

To identify all the keywords for which your website is already ranked, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Organic Traffic module
  2. Choose the "Top-Ranking Keywords" preset. This will display the top keywords that your website is currently ranked for.

For additional information on how to use our Organic Traffic module, see our docs here.

How to add keywords to Rank Tracker?

After identifying the keywords you want to track using Seodity's Organic Traffic feature, the next step is to add these keywords to a Rank Tracker. This tool allows you to monitor your website's ranking for each of these keywords.

  1. After identifying right keywords to track in Organic Traffic module find the checkbox in the table header. Click on it to select all displayed keywords. If you want to only select specific keywords, you can select these individually by clicking the checkbox beside each keyword.
  2. Once you have made your selection, find and click the "Add To Rank Tracker" button. This will open a modal where you will need to confirm your action by clicking "Add Keywords".
  3. After adding, navigate to the Rank Tracker module in Seodity. This might take a moment to load. Once it does, you should be able to see the keywords you added.

The Rank Tracker is now set up to monitor the ranking of your selected keywords. It will automatically analyze any changes in the daily ranking of these keywords and will provide you with updates. This helps you to keep track of your website's visibility in search results, and adjust your SEO strategy as needed.

FAQ

Why do I need to add keywords to Rank Tracker and not just use Organic Traffic?

While the Organic Traffic feature provides you with a list of keywords your website is currently ranking for, the Rank Tracker tool offers more frequent and detailed updates. Rank Tracker refreshes daily and allows you to monitor the progress of your SEO efforts in real-time. You can see how your rankings fluctuate daily and make immediate adjustments to your strategies if needed. Hence, using both Organic Traffic and Rank Tracker together will give you a more comprehensive view of your website's SEO performance.

How often should I check my website's position on Google?

The frequency of checking your website's position on Google depends largely on your SEO goals and the nature of your business. However, it is generally recommended to check your rankings at least once a week. This allows you to keep a pulse on your site's performance and make necessary adjustments. Remember, SEO is not a one-time task but an ongoing process. Regular monitoring and adjustments are key to improving and maintaining your site's ranking.
